Here are the exact directions from Epson support to trash all the associated files I've had to do this 3 times, with success each time (Jag, Panther, Tiger). I know I'm going to sound redundant here, but I have solved my problems with the Epson 3170 every time by trashing all the software associated with Epson scanner & Smart Panel then reinstalling from the original CD that came with the scanner (including Smart Panel) then installing all the patches in chronological order from the Epson website.
