I tried years back before the Japanese VA was added, and again just recently with the Japanese VA instead, but I simply couldn't enjoy it, which is a damn shame as I know it's a 150+ hours of storytelling I'd likely really enjoy. It retains all of the world building elements of TitS, but the transition to voice acted 3D just fully robbed the game of its charmful magic to me. Speaking of, does anyone else remember that wait for SC? Boy, that was a tough one.Ĭold Steel. I put off The 3rd for the longest time due to its focus on a character I wasn't particularly fond of, but I was glad to be proven wrong & enjoyed it quite a lot, although obviously not to the extent of FC/SC. Overloaded with charm, incredibly deep world building, enjoyable combat & a top tier story, FC & SC really do rank up there as some of my all time favourite games. Trails in the Sky is S-tier the absolute best JRPG release since Final Fantasy IX.

I didn't know there was a thread for Trails! Adding in my $0.02 because it's 4am and just, well, why not What is done well is the individual characters including NPCs who all have their own tiny stories in the game to pay attention to and the combat system which I agree with others is one of the best turn bases systems(well at least the CS1 onward version of it).Īlso agree with the others for Khain, if they are looking for good turn based combat they should start at CS1 not Sky with until the final game in the trilogy was just a highly generic version of what the combat system would evolve into. It's a bunch of non sense if you want me to be brutally honest. There is nothing special about the overarching story at all. Yea it's one big massive story that can be summed up as "character dies, actually character didn't die, plot twist happens, actually said plot twist doesn't matter at all because of this new threat!"

LEGEND OF HEROES LORE TIMELINE SERIES

That being said, the sky series is indeed very old and only recommended for people who are already invested in the series I think.ītw, this is isn't targeted at anyone specific, just a general thought from me. I see so many people say this kind of stuff about an individual game in the trails series and it irks me. Each game's "story" is part of one massive story so you can't really say the story sucked in trails in the sky 1 or w/e, it doesn't really make sense. I've probably said this before but this game is a massive series, it's not something you can judge off one game.
